He was the son of Benjamin and Sarah Turton and the brother of George, Doris, Mavis, Harold and Edgar Turton. In 1911, they lived at 35, Bramcote Road, Beeston, Nottingham.
Cyril Turton was a lace worker. He was an original member of 17th (Nottingham) Beeston Company Boys' Brigade. He excelled at sport, representing the club and, later, his battalion at football.
