Thomas William Pryor was born in 1892 at Brinsley and was the son of Joseph a colliery banksman and Mary Louisa Pryor née Pagett of Broad Lane, Brinsley, Nottinghamshire. His father Joseph Pryor was born in 1862 at Great Dalby, Leicestershire and his mother Mary Louisa Pagett was born in 1859 at Wymndham, Leicestershire, they were married in 1883 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration, they went on to have 9 children, sadly two were to die in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were Mary b1883 Greasley, John Robert b1886 Brinsley, Emily b1888 Brinsley, Fanny Louise b1890 Brinsley, Thomas William b1892 Brinsley, Olive Amy b1898 and Percy Pryor b1900 Brinsley. In the 1911 census the family are living at Broad Lane Brinsley and are shown as Joseph 49 yrs a colliery banksman, he is living with his wife Mary Louisa 52 yrs and their children, Fanny Louisa 21 yrs no occupation listed, Thomas William 18 yrs a coal miner, Olive Amy 13 yrs a scholar also living with them is a grandson Daren 10 yrs.

He was living at Broad Lane New Brinsley Nottinghamshire in 1911.
13th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers
Private Thomas William Pryor (spelt Prior on military records) enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 13th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he landed in France on 9th September 1915, he was killed in action on 26th September 1915 and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France panel 20.
