Lillian Cecilia Holmes known as Lilian or Cissy, was born in 1894 at Cossall and was the daughter of Graham Gordon Holmes, Auctioneer and Valuer and Mary Elizabeth Holmes, née Fletcher of Cantelupe House, Watnall. Her father Graham was born in 1851 at Beeston, her mother Mary Elizabeth Fletcher was born in 1860 at Stapleford,. they were married in 1880 their marriage was recorded at the Basford registration district, they had the following children, Sybil May b1886 Watnall, Mable Victoria b1889 Cossall, Dougla Graham b1890 Cossall, and Lilian Cecilia b1894 at Cossall. In the 1911 census the family are living at Watnall and are shown as Graham Gordon Holes 60 yrs an auctioneer he is living with his wife Mary Elizabeth 51 yrs and their children, Mable Victoria 22 yrs no occupation listed, Douglas Graham 21 yrs an auctioneers clerk and Lillian Cecilia 17 yrs a dress maker.

Clerk Lilian Cecilia Holmes, enlisted on 4th January 1918 and served with the Women's Royal Air Force, she died of pneumonia on 4th November 1918 at Lincoln Hospital and is buried in Greasley (St. Mary) Churchyard and Cemetery.
'Nottingham Evening Post', 6th November 1918. “HOLMES. - On November 4th, at Lincoln Hospital, of pneumonia, Lilian Cecilia, W.R.A.F., aged 24, dearly loved youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Graham Holmes, Cantilupe House, Watnall, Notts. For King and country.”
