Wilfred Henry Barksby known as Henry was born in 1894 at Derby and was the son of Harry a chip frier and Eliza Barksby née Mottershead of 21 Lawrence Street Stapleford Nottinghamshire. His father Harry was born in 1866 at Alfreton and his mother Eliza Mottershead was born in 1869 at Derby, they were married in 1890, their marriage was recorded in the Belper Registration District, they went on to have 6 children, Mary Maud b1892 Derby, Wilfred Henry b1894 Derby, Stephen b1897 Derby, Mabel b1901 Stapleford, Lilly b1905 Stapleford and Muriel b1909 Stapleford. In the 1911 census the family are living at 25 Hall Road, Stapleford and are shown as Henry 45 yrs a chip frier, he is living with his wife Eliza 42 yrs and their children, Maud 19 yrs a wood polisher, Henry 15 yrs an iron moulder, Stephen 14 yrs an iron moulder, Mabel 9 yrs, Lily 6 yrs and Muriel 2 yrs.
In the 1911 census he is an iron moulder.
