Edward Thomas Bunce was born in 1882 the son of the late William an iron works labourer and Hannah Bunce née Chambers. William was born in 1838 at Dudley, he died in 1896 aged 58 yrs, Hannah Chambers was born in 1842 at Dudley, married in 1866 which was recorded in the Dudley registration district, they went on to have the following children, Enoch b1867 Dudley, Agnes b1869, Dudley, Joseph b1872 Staffordshire,they remainging children were all born at Pensett William b1873, Rueben b1876 Jabez b1879 and Edward Thomas b1882 In 1911 Edward Thomas has left his family home and is lodging at 101 Crompton Street, Hallams Field, Ilkeston with his future wife and family, he is shown as being 29 yrs an iron pipe caster, he is lodging with Frederick Trusswell 66 yrs a widow and iron pipe dresser and his children, Mary Trusswell 23 yrs Arthur Trusswell 21 yrs, Samuel Trusswell 19 yrs, Kate Trusswell 13 yrs of age. Edward Thomas married Mary Trusswell (born 15th August 1887 at Clay Cross) in 1912 their marriage was recorded in the Shardlow registration district, they lived at 29 Arnold Avenue, Sawley and went on to have a son Edward Arthur Bunce born December 1913. Commencing 22nd May 1916 his widow Mary was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week

Rifleman Edward Thomas Bunce enlisted at Nottingham. landing in France on 30th June 1915 he was killed in action on 25th September 1915, his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Dud Corner, Panels 101 & 102
