George Edward Minton was born in 1896 the son of Arthur Street a fitters labourer and Annie Minton née Daniels of 15 Cross Street, Stapleford. Arthur Street Minton was born in 1863 at Castle Donnington, Annie Daniels was born in 1868 at Wirksworth, married in 1892 their marriage was recorded in the Shardlow registration district, they had the following children, Arthur James b1893, Harry Daniels b1895 George Edmund b1896, Bertie Street b1898, Margaret b1899, Edgar b1903 and Edith Minton b1910 all were born in Stapleford. In 1911 the family lived at 15 Cross Street Stapleford Nottinghamshire, Arthur was a fitters labourer and George was a lace worker.
In 1911 he was a lace worker.

Rifleman George Edmund Minton, enlisted on 10th November 1914 at Nottingham, giving his age as 19 yrs and 2 months, his occupation was that of a lace factory hand. He landed in France on 8th August 1915 and died of gun shots wounds at 55th field ambulance station, France on 4th May 1917 and is buried at London Cemetery, Neuville- Vitasse.
