Lance Corpl William E Taylor Retford Times 21 Sept 1917 We regret to record the death of Lance Corpl William E Taylor, youngest son of Mr and Mrs Paul Taylor who was killed in action on August 10th. The deceased, who was a young man of unblemished character voluntarily joined the forces towards the end of 1914. He has been two years in France and twice wounded, Sympathetic letters from the chaplain and officers of the regiment show that Corpl Taylor was highly esteemed and respected by his comrades. His genial disposition and strict attention to duty made him a general favourite and would in the near future certainly won for him further promotions as a non commissioned officer, had he lived
