William Stanley was born C1879 in East Bridgford and was the son of Thomas a green grocer of Brickyard Lane, Farnsfield,
His father was born in 1854 at East Bridgford and was married at least twice, his first wife Annie born 1856 birth registered in the Bingham Registration District died prior to 1891. He married his second wife Agnes Annie Wignall in 1891 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell Registration District, his wife Agnes died in 1904 she was 41 yrs of age.
Thomas had 11 children with his two wives they were , William b1879 East Bridgford, Thomas b1883 Basford, John George b1885 Stapleford, Zillah b1887 Edingley, Edgar b1889 Southwell, Mary b1891 Farnsfield, Sarah Elizabeth b1894 Farnsfield , Phillip b1894 Farnsfield and Edward b1900 Farnsfield.
In the 1891 census Thomas 36 yrs old and a widow is living at Back Lane, Farnsfield with his son William 12 yrs, Thomas 8 yrs and John George 6 yrs , also living with him is Agnes Ann Wignall 29 yrs a housekeeper , with her two children, Edgar Wignall 2yrs and Mary Stanley Wignall 6 months.
In the 1901 census Thomas now 46 yrs is living at Southwell Road, Farnsfield with his wife Agnes Annie 37 yrs and their children John George 16 yrs, Zillah 14 yrs, Edgar 12 yrs, Mary 10 yrs, Sarah Elizabeth 7 yrs, Philip 6 yrs and Edward Berrill 1 yr.
By the 1911 census Thomas now 56 yrs a widow and green grocer is living at Brickyard Lane, Farnsifled, he is living with his children Zillah 24yrs his housekeeper, Edgar 22 yrs a waggoner on a farm, Phillip 16 yrs a farm worker. Edward 11 yrs a scholar and Edith 7 yrs.
