William Adrien Burns was born in 1877 in Lincoln and was married to Louisa Abbott born 1878 in Ripley, Derbyshire, they were married in Nottingham in 1899 and went on to have a son William Burns b1900 in Nottingham. In the 1901 census the family were living at 2 Bunny Terrace,Summers Street, Arkwright Street, Nottingham. At the time of his death his widow Louisa was living at 29, Mount St., New Basford, Nottingham
In the 1901 census he is shown as a pastry cook / confectioner

12/13th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers
Private William Adrien Burns, enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 12/13th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. He landed in France on 9th September 1915, he was killed in action between 27th and 29th May 1918. He has no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial.
Obituary published 19th April 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “BURNS. – Missing 27th May, 1918, now officially reported killed that day, Pte. W. A. Burns, Northumberland Fusiliers.
