Albert Burton was born in 1894 in Radford and was the son of David Thomas a coal miner and Ellen Burton née Berrisford of 94 Minerva Street, Bulwell, Nottingham. His father David Thomas was born in 1865 in Bloxwich and his mother Ellen Berrisford was born in 1864 at Nottingham, they were married in 1888 in Nottingham, they went on to have 5 children, sadly two were to die in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were David b1889 Bramcote, Albert b1894 Radford and Ellen b1899 Radford. In the 1911 census the family are living at 96 Broomhill Road, Bulwell and are shown as David Thomas 46 yrs a coal miner, he is living with his wife Ellen 47 yrs and their children Albert 17 yrs a hosiery worker, Ellen 12 yrs a scholar and his married son David 22 yrs a coal miner and his wife Beatrice Burton 19 yrs

15th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Private Albert Burton, enlisted at Hucknall and served with the 15th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 31st July 1917. He is buried in Potijze Chateau Lawn Cemetery.
In memoriam published 31st July 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “BURTON. – In loving memory of Pte. Albert Burton, aged 23 years, 106, St. Albans-road, Bulwell, killed in action on July 31st, 1917. One year to-day since our great loss fell, still in our hearts we mourn the loss of one we loved so well.
