William Hunt was born in 1895 at Bulwell and was the son of James a colliery deputy and his first wife the late Martha Hunt née Sansam of 799, Hucknall Road Old Basford Nottingham. His father James was born in 1865 at Tupton, Derbyshire, his mother Martha Sansam was born in 1866 at Tupton, Derbyshire, she died in 1905 aged 39 yrs, they were married in 1891 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have the following children, Ad b1892, William b1895, James b1897 and George b1903 all were born in Bulwell. His father went on to marry Mary Elizabeth Trueman (born 1867 Greasley) in 1906 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family was living at 76 Highbury Avenue, Bulwell and were shown as James 4 yrs a colliery deputy, he was living with his wife Mary 44 yrs and his children Ada 19 yrs a blouse maker, William 16 yrs a railway clerk, James 14 yrs an office boy and George 8 yrs a scholar.
In the 1911 census he is shown as a railway clerk.

6th Bn Northamptonshire Regiment
Private William Hunt enlisted at Northampton, he served with the 6th battalion Northamptonshire Regiment. He landed in France on 26th July 1915 and was killed in action on 1st November 1915 and is buried at Point 110 Old Military Cemetery, Fricourt
