Samuel Steeples

George Samuel Steeples known as Samuel was born in 1891 the son of Samuel a sand quarry foreman and Louisa Steeples née Page of Villa Peak Cottage, Edwinstowe. Samuel was born in 1863 at Wirksworth, Derbyshire, Louisa Page was born in 1861 at Derby, married on 20th December 1888 at Wirksworth congregational church they went on to have 7 children. In 1911 the family lived at Mansfield Road, Edwinstowe.

Private George Samuel Steeples enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Edwinstowe, he died on 16th October 1918 of pneumonia in Mesopotamia, his name is commemorated on the Tehran War Cemetery Special Memorial 11
