Frederick Harrison was born in 1873 at Nottingham he married Margaret Brown on 20th December 1898 at the Nottingham Registry office and was the father of Godfrey b1904, Ruth b1908, Doris b1912 and George Harrison. b1913 In the 1911 census he is living at 12 Cross Cut, Elliott Street, Nottingham, he is shown as being 37 yrs and a general labourer he is living with his wife Margaret 32 yrs and their children, Frederick John 11 yrs, Gertrude Margaret 9 yrs, Godfrey 7 yrs and Ruth 2 yrs of age. At the time of his death he was living with his unmarried wife Gertrude Williams at 11 St James Square St James Street, Nottingham. (Pension card)

Private Frederick Harrison enlisted on 17th September 1914 at Nottingham, giving his age as 41 yrs and 38 days, he was a general labourer, he stated he had previous military service serving with the Robin Hood Rifles and had resigned in 1894. He was posted to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment and landed in France on 18th March 1915. He was wounded in action (gun shot wound to right arm ) on 29th March 1916, he was returned to England for treatment on 19th April 1916. Once recovered he again returned to France, he died of wounds on 22nd April 1918 and is buried at Varenes Military Cemetery Grave Reference: I M 15
