Father: George Storey, born in 1859 at Great Hale and working as a drayman. Mother: Rachel Storey, born in 1868 at East Bradford, Nottinghamshire. Brothers:John H., born in 1896 and working as a van boy, James, born in 1898, William, born in 1903, Arthur, born in 1908 and George, born in 1910. Sisters: Sarah, born in 1894 in Newark and working as a domestic day girl and Violet, born in 1905. All the children, with the exception of Sarah were born in Sneinton. The family lived at 25 Kingston Street, Sneinton, Nottingham before moving to 49 Newark Street, Sneinton.

Pte. Storey was called up for service and following training he was drafted to France. The battalion was involved in heavy fighting during the last "Hundred Days" before the Germans sued for peace, and Pte. Storey was killed in action on 18/09/1918. His body was never recovered, but his name was commemorated on the Vis en Artois Memorial.
