Winifred Jane Lord was born in 1891 at Farndon and was the son of Frederick William a farrier and Frances Lord née Baguley of Farndon, Newark. Her father Frederick William was born in 1868 at Long Bennington, his mother Frances Baguley was born in 1863 at East Stoke, she died in 1906 aged 43 , they were married on 7th November 1887 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell Registration district. They had a further daughter Victoria Frances born 1897 also in Farndon. In the 1911 census her father is living at Farndon village and is shown as being Frederick William 41 yrs a widow and farrier, he is living with his daughter Victoria Frances 13 yrs . In the 1911 census Winfired Jane living with her cousin Catherine Fox 37 yrs a headteacher, at The Sqaure, Repton, Burton upon Trent, she is shown as being 20 yrs , single and a domestic help.

Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps
Winifred Jane Lord joined the Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps in 1918, she died on 5th November 1918 at Woolwich Hospital. Her body was returned to her family and is buried at Farndon cemetery.
Article published 20th November 1918 in the Newark Herald :- Eldest daughter of Frederick William Lord of Farndon. Joined the Women’s Army Auxilliary Corps a few months ago and succumbed to a very a serious illness after lying some time in Woolwich hospital. Her body was met by Royal Engineers at Newark station and taken to Farndon on a gun carriage.
