Person Details
Bulwell Nottingham
He was the son of John Thomas and Hannah Beardmore and the brother of George, Eliza, Harry and Albert Beardmore. In 1901 and 1911 they lived at 69 Chatham Street Bulwell Nottingham. Walter probably married Mabel Phillips (b. 1885, Bulwell) in 1914 (O/N/D Nottingham). Walter and Mabel were neighbours as in 1901/1911 Mabel was living with her family at 20 Chatham Street, Bulwell. According to the Register of Soldiers' Effects, they had 'children' although the only record found to date is of the birth of a 'Naretby' Beardmore (mother's maiden name Phillips) registered in 1916 (Fettingham, Notts/Derby). Mabel's brother, 67785 Private Harold Phillips Machine Gun Corps, was killed in action in France on 3 May 1917, just three months before the death of his brother-in-law Walter. In 1919 when Mabel's family completed a list of Harold's surviving blood relatives she was living at 19 Nanson Street, Bulwell and was still at this address in 1941; she had not remarried. Mabel probably died in 1955 (Jun Nottingham) aged 69.
