He was the son of Edward and Sarah Ann Blanksby and the brother of Jane Blanksby. In 1911 they lived at 12 Morley Terrace Church Street Carrington Nottingham. Edward and Sarah moved to 6 and later 1 Toronto Terrace Church Drive Carrington.
In 1911 he was a boy clerk and and a warehouse man upon enlistment.

Alfred Blanksby enlisted at Nottingham on 28th September 1914 giving his age as 19 years and 12 days although he was actually only 18. He landed in France on 26th March 1915 and died 33 days later.
