He was the son of Alfred Thomas and May Lois Moreton and the brother of Doris Edna Moreton. In 1901 they lived at 5 Portland Road, in 1911 at 51 Raleigh Street and later 44 Portland Road (all Nottingham).
He attended All Saints (Raleigh Street) Sunday School. In 1911 he was a GPO telegraph messenger.

All Saints Church News, January 1917: 'David Thomas Moreton, 44 Portland Road, Private Northumberland Fusiliers, age 21. Died of wounds November 17th 1916 in France. Enlisted spring 1916, to France June 1916. Brought up at All Saints Sunday School.'
