His father was born in 1852 at Hurst, Buckinghamshire, his mother in 1865 at Ashby de la Zouch. Married in 1881, they had ten children, eight surviving infancy - Mark Anthony, Louisa b.1886 Burton on Trent, Florence b.1894 Burton on Trent, Nellie b.1894 Burton on Trent, James b.1896 Stoke on Trent, William b.1899 Stoke on Trent and Edna b.1904. Stoke on Trent. Mark Anthony married Lily Brown in 1909 at Nottingham. In 1911, they lived at 2, Middle Terrace, Middle Furlong Road, Meadows, Nottingham. In 1921, Lily married Albert Emmett and they lived at 13 Brushfield Street, Birkin Avenue, Nottingham.
He was a fireman on the Midland Railway prior to enlistment.

Royal Engineers
Mark Anthony Norris enlisted at Nottingham on 12th December 1915 and the following day he was placed into the reserves. He was mobilised on 5th June 1917 and posted as a Sapper in the railway operating division of the Royal Engineers. He landed in France on 2nd November 1917. He was serving with the 21st Light Railway Train Crew Company, Royal Engineers when he was killed in action 16th March 1918 he was buried in Reninghelst New Military Cemetery Grave Reference: 4.A.17
War obituary, All Saints Church News, June 1918: 'Mark Antony Norris, 24 Kenilworth Terrace, Sapper RE, killed in action March 16th 1918 aged 34. Leaves a widow.'
