Eastwood - Cadets of the Ambulance Training Corps

Edward Road, Eastwood. A freestanding monument in a memorial park; a Celtic style wheel cross on a square plinth, the shaft of the cross decorated with an inverted sword of sacrifice and the motto 'Non Sibi' ('not for self'). The dedication reads, 'To the glorious memory of the cadets of the Eastwood Ambulance Training Corps who volunteered for service for others in the Great War 1914-1918.' Between the two wars the Ambulance Training Corps frequently held their church parade at St Mary's church, Eastwood, on Remembrance Sunday. On these occasions the drums and bugles of the band sounded the Last Post and Reveille from the church belfry.
