Nottingham - Addison Street Congregational Church

The church formed a war memorial committee in 1919 and by July 1920 the church was making arrangements for the unveiling of a memorial window in October 1920. The 'Bunyan window' as it became known was designed by Alexander Gascoigne and was installed in the chancel. There was also a roll of honour in the church to commemorate the men from the congregation who had served in the war as well as those who had died. In 1940 the window was removed and put into storage for safekeeping; it was reinstated on 16 September 1945. The last service in the church was held in March 1966 after which the congregation transferred to Sherwood Congregational Church, Edwards Lane. The Addison Street premises were sold to the Nottingham Girls High School and later demolished for redevelopment. The whereabouts of the Bunyon window and the roll of honour are not known.
