At the time of the Great War there were two separate police forces in Nottinghamshire; Nottinghamshire Constabulary, whose officers were responsible for the county, and the Nottingham Police Force whose officers were responsible for the city. The Nottingham Police Force memorial was installed in the Central Police Station, North Church Street. The police station was closed in 2016 and relocated to Maid Marian Way, Nottingham, when the North Church Street site was sold for redevelopment. The memorial is presently in storage pending relocation. The dedication on the memorial reads: 'Pro Patria. Erected by the Nottingham Police Force to the memory of their comrades who fell in the Great War. 1914-1918.' Eight police constables and one fireman are commemorated on the memorial.
