All Saints Church, Church Street, Sutton on Trent NG23 6PD. Dedication: 'Remember before God the souls of the men of Sutton on Trent who laid down their lives in the Great War 1914-1918. (names) Grant unto them O Lord eternal rest and let light perpetual shine upon them.' There is a roll of honour in Nottinghamshire Archives (ref PR 7343, Sutton on Trent Roll of Honour). The document is on a double sheet of lined foolscap, handwritten in ink. It is a numbered list of those who served with separate lists of those who were discharged and of women who served. The names of those who served and who died are marked with a red cross. The list also annotates names ‘missing’, ‘prisoner’ and ‘Navy’ (‘Army’ in one case when two men, one Navy and one Army, have the same first name/surname). 145 men served of whom 23 died and 2 were missing. Three men were discharged. Two women were recorded: Hutchinson Lilly WAAC (in France) and Selby Winnie VAD (in France) There is a note on the Roll of Honour that: ‘the Vicar will be pleased to hear of any addition or amendments to this Roll’. There are discrepancies between the names of those on the ROH who died and the names on the parish war memorial.
