Mansfield, Pleasley Vale - St. Chad's Church

This memorial has been recorded by Brian Downing who notes 'On the west wall of the interior of St. Chad’s Church, Pleasley Vale is a Roll of Honour encased in a glass and wood frame which has the names of eleven soldiers with a connection to the village of Pleasley Vale and who died in the Great War. The roll appears to be of good quality paper (it has lasted 100 years) in the form of a printed pro forma with the names hand written in an order which seems to coincide with the date of death or the notification of death sent to the next of kin... There were three pairs of brothers in the group which (was) tragic for such a small community as Pleasley Vale.'
