William Arthur Cooke died as a prisoner of war. He is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial. As it states in the Red Cross records, “Nähere Angaben unbekannt,” i.e., details unknown.
In memoriam published 24th October 1916 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “COOKE. — In loving memory our dear brother, Private W. A. Cooke, died in Germany, October 24th, 1914. Sadly missed. — From his loving sisters. “COOKE. — In loving memory of our dear son, Private W. A. Cooke, died in Germany, October 24th, 1914.
