Albert Richard Bavin was born in 1894 in Nottingham and was the son of Richard an estate agent and Mary Bavin née Radage of 2 Milner Road, Watcombe Circus, Sherwood. His father Richard was born in 1869 in Swinderby, Lincolnshire and his mother ws born in 1869 in Lnagwith, Nottinghamshire, they were married in 1892 in Nottingham and went on to have 6 children 2 of whom died in infancy or early childhood their surviving children were all born in Nottingham and were Albert Richard b1894, Charles Reginald b1896, Doris b1898 and William b1900. In the 1911 census the family are living at 2 Milner Street, Watcombe Circus, Sherwood, Nottingham and are shown as Richard 42 yrs an estate agent, he is lving with his wife Mary 42 yrs and their children Albert Richard 17 yrs a bleaching dyer, Charles Reginald 15 yrs a scholar, Doris 13 yrs a scholar and William 11 yrs a scholar. Albert Richard married his wife Daisy Bolsover in 1913 in Nottingham and went on to have a son John born 1913, the birth was registered in the Basford Registration District.

1st Bn Grenadier Guards
Private Albert Richard Bavin, served with the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, he was killed in action (shot by a sniper ) on 24th December 1916 at Combles . Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
In memoriam published 24th December 1917 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “BAVIN. – In ever-loving memory of Pte.
