George Henry Peters was born in 1881 in Sneinton and was son of George a house painter and Julia Eliza Peters née Beighton of 44 Robin Hood Street St Ann's, Nottingham. His father George was born in 1859 in Melton Mowbray, his mother Julia Eliza Beighton was born in 1859 in Nottingham, they were married in 1878 in Nottingham and went on to have 6 children, sadly three were to die in infancy or early childhood their surviving children were: George Henry b1881 Sneinton, May b1886 Sneinton and Mary b1888 Sneinton. In the 1911 census the family are living at 100 Sneinton Road, Nottingham and are shown as George Peters 52 yrs a house painter, he is living with his wife Julia Eliza 51 yrs a lace worker clipper and their children George Henry 30 yrs a provisions labourer and Mary 23 yrs a lace jenner
In 1911 he was a provision labourer.

Army Service Corps
Private George Henry Peters, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the Army Service Corps, he died of enteric fever at the 52nd (Lowland) Casualty Clearing Station, Mingoyo, German East Africa (Tanzania) on 17th December 1917. He is buried in Dar es Salaam War Cemetery. (grave ref. 7.H.11).
Nottingham Evening Post notice (abridged) 24 December 1917: 'Peters. died of enteric [fever] December 17th 1917, Private George Henry Peters, 44 Robin Hood Street, age 36 only son. Father, mother, sisters.'
