Corporal Arthur Frederick Claude Sharpe attested for 6 yrs service in the Army Special Reserve at Nottingham on 28th July 1913, and joined the 3rd battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he was 18 yrs and 1 month of age, he gave his occupation as that of fitter and turner. He was mobilised on the outbreak of war , he was promoted to Lance Corporal on 8th September 1914. He landed in France on 11th December 1914, and was promoted to corporal on 12th December 1914. He was killed in action on 11th February 1915 whilst serving with the 2nd battalion Leicestershire Regiment and is buried in Le Touret Military Cemetery Richebourg-L'Avoque Grave Reference: I.G.5
