Tom was born in 1899 in Nottingham and was the son of John Charles and Ellen Wise and the brother of John and James Wise. In 1911 they lived at 91 Union Road and later at 43 Havelock Street (both Nottingham). In the 1911 census , the family are living at 91 Union Road and are shown as John 59 yrs a shop keeper living with his wife Ellen 51 yrs and his three children John 14 yrs a house assistant, Tom 12 yrs and James 11 yrs

4th Bn Grenadier Guards
Private Tom Wise enlisted in Nottingham, he served with the 4th battalion Grenadier Guards, he saw his first theatre of war in France landing on 5th October 1915 (he was 16 years of age born 4th quarter 1898) and was killed in action 11 days later on 16th October 1915. He has no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial
