He was the son of William and Margaret Eggleshaw and the brother of Flora and Annie Eggleshaw. In 1911 they lived at 434 Berridge Road Hyson Green Nottingham.

Private William Eggleshaw, 22nd Company Canadian Forestry Corps, died of pneumonia on 18th October 1918. He is buried in Champagnole Communal Cemetery.
In memoriam published 18th October 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “EGGLESHAW. – In loving memory of Pte.Willie Eggleshaw, Canadians, died in France of pneumonia, beloved youngest son of W. and M.
