Arthur Perry was born in 1887 at Lenton and was the son of Ephraim a levers lace maker and Sarah Perry née Summers of 19 Evelyn Street, Beeston, Nottingham. His father Ephraim was born in 1846 in Lenton and his mother Sarah Summers was born in 1845 in Harby, Leicestershire, they were married in 1878 in Nottingham and went on to have 4 children sadly 1 died in infancy their surviving children were William b1880 Radford, Ann b1882 Lenton and Arthur b1887 Lenton. In the 1911 census his parents are living at 19 Evelyn Street, Beeston, Nottingham and are shown as Ephraim 65 yrs a levers lace maker, he is living with his wife Sarah 66 yrs none of the children are at home on the night of the census. Arthur married his wife Esther Miller in 1913 in Nottingham they lived at 124 Dame Agnes Street Nottingham.

Sergeant Arthur Perry enlisted in Nottingham and died of wounds at 43rd Casualty Clearing Station, France. He is buried in Thilloy Road Cemetery, Beaulencourt, Grave Reference: A.40
Death notices published 29th September 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “PERRY. – Died of wounds, September 21st, 1918, Sergt. A. Perry, Notts. and Derbys, beloved husband of Esther Perry, 105 Dame Agnes-street. “PERRY. – Died of wounds, September 21st, 1918, Sergt. A. Perry. – Deeply mourned by sorrowing sister, father, and brother (in Germany).” In memoriam published 22nd September 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post: “PERRY. – In loving memory of my dear husband, Sergt. Arthur Perry, 10th Sherwood Foresters, died of wounds in France, Sept. 21st, 1918.
