He appears to have enlisted with R/8357 Rifleman Richard Clark, a fellow 'Dako Boy', who died of wounds 27 July 1916. Harold served in France from 19 May 1915. He died of wounds and was buried in Bedford House Cemetery (grave reference Enclosure No 2. IV.B.56). Qualified for the 1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.
